5 Monochromatic Websites that do Color Right

Pure monochromatic designs are not very common. So it is not that easy to find good examples of monochromatic Websites, but here are some that I came across.

Note how the mood of the design changes depending on the main color. Bold bright color is used to make a statement, while subdued pastel colors invite you in to share the story.

1. BitterRenter

BitterRenter uses bright orange as the base color with shades of orange on the background.

Minimal design keeps distractions to the minimum and zeros in on the main value proposition of the website: an interactive guide for renters in NYC.

2. DigitalOcean

Blue is traditionally a safe corporate color, but DigitalOcean chose to turn it up to 11.

Bright blue color is used not only to support the branding, but also to instill feeling of confidence and professionalism in their service.

Note how their client logos are popping off the page even though blue in the header is so intense.

3. EvolveWealth

EvolveWealth uses lighter and more muted blues to convey the sense of calm, and yet still convey the sense of professional services.

4. The Vine Agency

The Vine Agency uses pastel olive green color scheme all across the website. The design here is not monochromatic in a strict sense of the word. It combines monochromatic colors with black and white photography.

Designers also chose to use complementary accent color for calls to actions.

5. Red Logo Associates

Bold red on Red Logo Associates website is definitely used to support the brand, but also to convey sense of confidence.

This website uses predominantly same red on all elements. Only some elements use much lighter tint of red.

As you can tell from these examples, monochromatic color schemes in Web Design make websites appealing. Use less saturated monochromatic colors to create a calm and welcoming mood, or go bold with bright colors.
