About

UX Portfolio is a comprehensive resource for anyone starting out in UX design. Here you will find answers to most pressing questions as a beginner in UX, and solid guidance on getting started and most importantly building out your UX portfolio.

Here you will also find a collection of various learning resources like books, blogs, online courses, Youtube channels, and podcasts. The list is growing and kept up to date regularly.

UX Portfolio is run by Michael A. Degtyarev, Canada Texas based senior UX designer and mentor with over 15 years of experience designing for the web and mobile.

Michael is a self-taught designer. He doesn’t have a formal education in design or anything remotely close to it (he majored in computational linguistics). He transitioned into design after working as an interpreter and a QA specialist at the age of 25 (It was back in 2005). Since then he had a successful freelance and corporate career.

He writes about UX design here on UX Portfolio. Some of his writing was published in UX Collective and Harvard Business Review. He also runs a free Substack newsletter on UX design called MAD (about) UX.
