Sitemap is a design deliverable, a diagram showcasing the structure of a website or an application. In many cases sitemaps represent Information Architecture (IA), or IA model, showing pieces of content/information, grouping and relationships.

Sitemaps are typically used when designing content rich websites or applications, and user flows are used for feature rich applications.

Sitemaps are best created in collaboration with team members representing different departments in the organization. One great way to create sitemap as a group is by doing card sorting.
